Costa Rica has rather pleasant climate all through the year. If you want to avoid big masses of tourists and enjoy empty beaches and even more, relaxed ticos and ticas (that is what the Costa Ricans call themselves) choose the local wintertime. This is from approximately June to September. You may experience a little rain (2-4 hours a day), but it's still warm and fine. And the best thing is: The Caribbean side is mostly sunny during this time, and there are fewer travellers. Enjoy your stay! Breakfast is always special. Each camp-trailer has a comfortable bed, all the cooking utensils needed as well as coffee/tea pots, toaster, etc., plus a washroom. The cost for these stays is less than a motel or hotel or bed & breakfast. You get help from the owner or your fellow campers on road conditions, things to see and do, and shopping. We self-toured for 2 months doing this trip around Australia. If we had stayed in conventional housing and ate in restaurants all.
First and foremost is to understand that you are staying in someone's home as was in the 'old days'. Most bed and breakfasts are owner-operated, and some are run by innkeepers. Most of the things in the home are usually antiques, fine linens and bedding, family heirlooms, and the like - which is what makes it so special. Those things are not replaceable as they would be in a hotel. When traveling to Hawaii in the winter time and coming from the midwest or the eastern United States, try not to connect through Denver or Seattle, because of bad weather, snow storms, and de-icing and such. Several of our current guests have had problems with Seattle, and sitting for hours on the plane waiting for de-icing, and then missing their connection in Honolulu for outer island, which causes them to get stuck in Honolulu overnight. Best to connect through Los Angeles or San Francisco (although San Francisco does have fog.
